Laine Groeneweg: Poseidon T-Shirt, Small

Laine Groeneweg is a Hamilton-based artist, collaborator and educator.Following his Bachelor of Fine Arts studies at York University with a focus on new media and video studies, Groeneweg returned to the traditional studio art environment in 2009 and trained as a professional printmaker at the prestigious Fondazione Il Bisonte Per Lo Studio Dell’Arte Grafica in Florence, Italy. Since then, he has worked extensively as a technician, teacher and Master Printer at some of Canada’s most renowned printmaking studios, including Open Studio in Toronto and Centre[3] for Print and Media in Hamilton.

Oceans have been a major source of inspiration for Laine. As with all large bodies of water, oceans represent unique visual landscapes captured through a rich and colourful history of imagery and narrative. Inspired by these elements, this collection of work reflects avery personal interpretation of the vast and often mystical power of the ocean.
