Margaret Lim: Cubes Bangle


This series made of sterling silver and smokey quartz cube beads was inspired by traditional stone setting. The method of "setting" these quartz beads was by riveting; making this line clean and simple.

Margaret was born and raised in the North York suburb of Toronto. She attended The Ontario College of Art and Design, now OCAD University in Toronto, where she majored in the Jewellery/Metal Smithing. She graduated in 2007 and won the annually awarded 'Metal', which honours one graduating student from each program for the body of work they create in their thesis year.

After graduating from OCAD U she was accepted into the full time residency program at Harbourfront Centre's jewellery and metal studio where she was encouraged to make challenging work and had many professional opportunities such as lecturing, and teaching. Once she had completed the maximum three years at 'Harbourfront Centre', she went on to be a founding member of STUDIO HUDDLE in Toronto where she continues to practice.

Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally and has received awards, scholarships and grants through the Ontario College of Art and Design, The Ontario Crafts Council, and the Ontario Arts Council.
